Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot hide from his disappointing performance and says it is understandable that Old Trafford icons are criticizing him.
Recently, United's record scorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his program that "the spirit has disappeared" from his former club.
Amorim has achieved just eighteen wins from his 49 matches in control, featuring nine out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has still to record back-to-back consecutive wins.
While high-level Old Trafford insiders are certain that the club owner is still supportive the manager, an inability to defeat newly promoted Sunderland on Saturday will spark fresh rumors about his position heading into another two-week international break.
"It is expected," commented the Portugal-born manager, when questioned about the former striker's remarks. "One cannot run away from the outcomes."
"Additionally you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."
Supporter Response and Present Situation
Manchester United's followers stayed behind Amorim following last season's poor performance, when they ended up 15th in the league - their poorest finish since the 1973-74 relegation campaign - and were beaten in the Europa League showpiece, in the belief that the current campaign would be significantly better.
The manager assured fans the situation would get better because he had greater time to train with his team without the midweek commitment of continental football.
